2025 Bicycle Maintenance Clinics
These clinics are open to ladies and gents and provide some basic skills that all cyclists should know and be comfortable carrying out! Typically you may bring your own wheel / bike or we will have some demo pieces that you can use instead. Email us at [email protected] with any additional questions. Is there some other skill that you are interested in that you don't see here? Reach out to us to set up individualized clinics where we can work with just you or with a small group. "I can’t recommend Speed and Sprockets Bike Maintenance Workshops enough! My friends and I attended their hands-on class, and we were blown away by how much we learned in just one session. Sean and Liz have a way of breaking things down so you’ll walk away feeling like a pro. They walked us through the essentials—cleaning, lubrication, and basic adjustments—making sure we understood not just how to do it, but why it’s important. The best part? It was fun! They created a relaxed, welcoming environment where we could ask questions and practice without feeling intimidated." - Joanne, a workshop graduate Extended day classes:Sunday, April 6th, 2025: Novice Bicycle Maintenance Workshop at Abandoned Building Brewery in Easthampton, MA At this full afternoon class (1:00-6:00 pm), we'll cover all of the individual topics covered in our BM 101, BM 201, and BM 301 classes in one extended sitting. Sean was outstanding - very knowledgeable with an excellent, hands on approach to instruction." - David, a workshop graduate |

Are you ever worried heading out on a ride on your own that you'll get a flat tire and be stuck in the middle of nowhere? Here's your chance to learn a valuable (and surprisingly easy) skill that might just save you the walk of shame home one day! During this clinic you will:
At the end of the clinic you will leave with all the above knowledge, and hopefully some confidence should this calamity befall you out on the road! Thursday, April 3rd, 2025: BM 201 - General Bicycle Maintenance Workshop at Abandoned Building Brewery in Easthampton, MA
Don't come to this workshop not expecting to get dirty! We'll show you the same process we use to go through bikes we are tuning up from tip to tail, cleaning as you go and inspecting for safety and other issues. Along the way we will talk about the dizzying array of lubes and cleaners that you have to pick from and our recommendations on what to go with. While it may seem trivial, keeping your bike clean goes a long way in prolonging the life of your bike and keeping costly repair bills at bay. And while it might not be proven with empirical data, we're convinced that a clean bike is a happier bike is a faster bike! We will provide work stands, tools, and cleaners and lube; you provide the elbow grease! By the end of the clinic you'll have a safe, clean, shiny, happy bike and the knowledge to keep it that way! For more information visit the Facebook event page, or to order tickets, head HERE. Thursday, April 10th, 2025: BM 301 - Brakes and Derailleurs Basics at Abandoned Building Brewery in Easthampton, MA
Join us at this clinic where we'll go over two of your bike's most essential systems: your brakes and your shifters/derailleurs, the Nervous System of your bicycle! Although seemingly very different, they both are cable systems that work in a similar fashion and whose maintenance is critical for a well running machine. During this workshop we'll discuss and cover the following:
Please note that this class covers cable systems, and as such will not touch on hydraulic brakes or electronic shifting in any depth. Because of its technical nature, this class is limited to 10 participants. For more information visit the Facebook event page, or to order tickets, head HERE. |
